Community Discipleship

Jesus Christ died, not merely for a bunch of discrete individuals, but for a people.

As a family sharing in the bloodline of Christ, we are to be committed to Community Discipleship. An old African proverb said that it takes a village to raise a child. Biblically speaking, we know that it takes a church to raise up a mature believer in Christ. That is, we need each other. And it is our responsibility to pour our lives into others and bear the burden that the Apostle Paul had when he said, “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ (Col 1:28).”

“What can I do to help other believers on their journey with the Lord?”

Have you been walking with the Lord for some time? Then don’t keep it to yourself! Ask, “What can I do to help other believers on their journey with the Lord?” Why not invite others over for dinner once every one or two weeks for some intentional fellowship? Why not start a Bible-Study or Small-Group in your home? Why not meet with a younger believer over a meal and read through a book or study a book of the Bible together? Why not start a prayer group, praying for one another and hearing each other’s hearts in prayer? We need each other, and we each have the responsibility to present each other mature in Christ. How does God want you do this in your church family?
